BESS
The Built Environment Scorecard (BESS) is an assessment tool created by the Victorian Council Alliance for a Sustainable Built Environment (CASBE).
BESS is primarily used to assess the design of a home and find ways to make it more sustainable.
BESS aims to provide assistance to builders and developers to show how a proposed development demonstrates sustainable design at the planning stage.
The 9 categories that are assessed within the BESS tool are:
- Management
- Water
- Energy
- Stormwater
- Indoor Environment Quality (IEQ)
- Transport
- Waste
- Urban Ecology
- Innovation
