What is the 7-Star House Energy Rating Report?
New residential dwellings are required to achieve a 7 star energy rating report or equivalent in order to comply with the National Construction Code.
The 7 star energy rating report is generated using the Nationwide House Energy Rating Scheme (NatHERS) rating tools based on CSIRO’s scientific research.
The 7-star House Energy Rating Method
The assessment process uses a thermal modelling software, simulating the required amount of energy to heat and cool the proposed building to an optimal temperature.
The result of the assessment is a star rating.
Your home’s rating depends on how well its design suit the local climate.
This performance based rating system is based on a scale of 1 – 10, where a higher star rating means the building requires less energy to maintain optimal temperatures.
A 7 Star is the new minimum efficiency rating in Australia.
